Snap Circuits

Children in science club used Snap Circuit kits to recall and extend their knowledge of electrical circuits. They remembered that electricity only travels in complete circuits through electrical conductors. We discussed the role of switches in making and breaking an electrical circuit. The children began by following diagramatic instructions to build circuits using a range of components. Many then used their knowledge to build their own circuits. It was fun using motors that made spinners fly and incorporating a beaker of water into a circuit. The children know that water is an electrical conductor from their electrical safety lessons in year 3 but it was still exciting to use it safely as an electrical conductor in a working circuit.
