In celebration of the National Year of Reading, our Year 6s joined a virtual workshop with storyteller, published author and rapper Alim Kamara to explore the magic of rhythm and poetry. They even had a go at writing their own raps, inspired by superpowers!

We got on the minibus and visited our local library. We found out that it costs nothing to join. If we join the library we will get a library card and we will be able to take out up to 15 books at a time, for 3 weeks! The librarian also told us that they have afterschool lego club, exercise club and craft club during the week. We also really enjoyed being able to look at the books. WOW! What a great trip!

As part of world book day 2025 the children had to dress their classroom door linked to their favourite book or their class book. The designs were amazing and it was a tough job selecting a winner.

This week we have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We are going to write instructions for a medicine to make Grandma kind. We have been creating mixtures to help us with time phrases, adverbs and imperative verbs. We had lots of fun doing it too!

This week we burnt our houses that were made in the style of those from the Great Fire of London. This showed us how quickly the fire was able to spread due to the fact that the houses were extremely close together and made from flammable materials. All of this helped us with our information report writing.

We went on a trip to Leagrave library. We learnt how to look after books and how to get a library card. We listened to the librarian reading a story and took a ride in the minibuses.

This week Chef Paul taught us how to make bread. We are going to be writing instructions in our next writing topic so it was extremely helpful to watch it being made and create our own shapes. We collected lots of lovely imperative verbs and adverbs to use so that our instructions are clear and can be followed easily.
