The Great Science Share at Whipsnade Zoo
The year 4 science club attended The Great Science Share at Whipsnade Zoo on June 17th.
In school, the children carried out 2 investigations linked to climate change and extreme weather. They wanted to know which roofing material is the best at stopping run-off and potential flooding when it rains and which is the best at insulating houses against extreme heat.
The children found that living roofs absorbed the most water when it ‘rained’ and acted as the best thermal insulators by stopping the most heat from reaching the ‘house’ underneath.
At ‘The Science Share’, the children showed and explained their investigations to children from other schools. They also learned about other schools’ investigations and asked lots of good questions.
We are very proud of how well our budding scientists presented themselves and their learning.
